Total lunar eclipse 2025
Come join the Astronomical Society of Penang’s observation activities and Live stream of
the Total Lunar Eclipse this coming Sunday night to Monday morning (7-8 September 2025).
This total lunar eclipse will be visible from Penang.
The moon will rise at 7:06 pm Malaysian time on Sunday, 7 September.
The penumbral eclipse will begin at 11:28 pm, and the total lunar eclipse will be greatest at 2:11 am on Monday, 8 September.
The penumbral eclipse will end at 4:55 am.
The Astronomical Society of Penang will be conducting two public observation sessions
1. 11:00 pm onward on Sunday, 7 September, at the Lim Choon Kiat Observatory in Balik Pulau, Penang.
Admission is FREE, and everyone is welcome.

We will also be conducting a livestream of the total lunar eclipse on our YouTube channel

The live stream is a collaboration with Dark Sky Malaysia, and we will be showing the eclipse from
various locations in Malaysia, including Penang, Sabah, Perlis, Perak, and Thailand too!
The livestream will start at 9:30 pm on Sunday, 7 September, with talks and discussions with our guest speakers.
