ASP@home

ASP@home is a program by Astronomical Society of Penang (ASP) to encourage hands-on astronomy learning that can be done at home. Teachers are invited to join this training to enrich your science lesson at school. 1000 sets of materials are prepared to be handed out to the first 20 teachers registered for this program. Teachers will be trained to conduct 4 modules in their classes online. the teachers’ training will be held on 29th August 2020 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Google Meet platform.

Sundial

Learn how to tell time using the position of the Sun on the sky.

sUN

In this module, you will learn how to observe the Sun safely, what is going on inside the sun, what do we see on the sun, and many more underlying physics of the Sun

sOLAR SYSTEM SCALE

Learn the family members of solar system and the structure of the solar system.

Is there any registration fee?

No. the registration and the materials are completely free

When and where is the teachers' training?

the training will be online on GOOGLE MEET platform. It will be held on 29th August 2020 (Saturday), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How do I register?

Do I need to be a teacher to register?

Not necessarily. You can also be representative of your school’s science or astronomy club, endorsed by your teacher.

If more than one teacher registered from my school, will we get more materials?

To keep it fair for other school, we limit the free materials to 50 per school. But the teacher can still join and get recognized.

Is this event supported by education department of Penang??

This program is allowed by the education department of Penang state(JPNPP). please contact us to get the approval letter by JPNPP. the official invitation letter by ASP will be provided once you are registered.

How do you keep the materials and organization of this event free?

We are grateful to the financial support from the Penang Science Council under the Program Penggalakan Sains dan Teknologi (Sciene and Technology Encouragement Program, PPST)

Will the module be available for individual to be accessed?

Yes, we plan to upload all the materials on this page after the program. In fact, we also plan to add more modules in the long run. Stay tuned >.~
