Are you interested in taking photos of the night sky
but don’t know where to start?

Or you have just started to get into night sky imaging
but not sure if you are doing it right, or wonder how you can improve?

GOOD NEWS!

The Astronomical Society of Penang will be having an online workshop on night sky imaging for beginners on December 5, 2021 (Sunday), conducted by renowned amateur astronomer and astrophotographer Dr. Derrick Lim.

Dr. Derrick Lim is an amateur astronomer and astrophotographer based in Thailand. He began to observe the night sky about 30 years ago, and about 8 years ago, Dr. Lim began to photograph the night skies to convey the beauty of the stars and to spread light pollution awareness. His photographs have received international attention and recognition, including being featured on NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day in 2018. Dr. Lim now hosts a monthly AstroChat program with the Astronomical Society of Penang and is the co-producer and author of the society’s monthly What’s Up In the Sky astronomical events guide. Dr. Lim also runs his nature photography page Chasing Nature’s Light where he shares his photographs of birds and the stars.

In this workshop, you will learn about choosing the right equipment for both wide field and deep sky imaging, how to capture the images, and lastly how to process them.
