Since 2002, Gradient began to fall in love with “Astronomical Photography” or known as Astrophotography. As Gradient was majoring in Art & Design, he had an idea to combine “Astrophotography” with “Art” to promote this hobby to the public. He cooperated with another astronomy enthusiast Mr. William Chin to set up a special group named “Astro-photography Group of Malaysia”. Over the years, he held many sharing sessions and activities of “Starry Night Photography”, and saw more and more people who like astrophotography. 

 

However, astrophotography often requires using expensive photographic equipment and a lot of techniques, thus discouraging many people to even try it. Gradient took advantage of this opportunity to try to shoot the starry night sky with his mobile phone, and when the photography function of smart phones became more advanced, he eventually developed a mode for capturing long exposures, thus making him the first person in Malaysia to successfully shoot the starry night sky and also the Milky Way with his mobile phone in 2015. He has since had his photographs published in major media in Malaysia, Sky & Telescope of USA & Taipei Night Sky Magazines, as well as being photography and camera features reviewer for smartphone brands such as Huawei, Nubia, Xiaomi & Vivo. He was also a speaker of TEDxPetalingStreet in year 2013.
